Austrian company Komperdell was founded as early as 1922. As soon as six years later they were the top manufacturer of ski poles in the country with over 50 employees working in the business. The ski trend grew the following years and during the early 1930:s Komperdell was one of the largest manufacturer of ski poles world wide. Komperdell was at the top of the development at a very early stage. In 1939 they replaced the wooden ski poles with new bamboo poles. In 1948 the first metal pole was created by Komperdell. During the winter olympic games in Cortina, 1956, Toni Sailer won the slalom, giant slalom and downhill. He did it with a pait of Komperdell poles in his hands. The business continued to grow. It was obvious that Komperdell was selling a product of high quality, which was appreciated by it's customers. Komperdell has found itself in constant development ever since the founding. In the early 1990:s Komperdell launched their new Carbon fiber pole. An ultra light pole, which came to be very popular. Komperdell worked hard with creating light weight products to replace the heavy old ones. As the business continued to grow steadily, Komperdell was confident enough to expand. During the 2000:s Komperdell launched a new series of body armors. By combining design and function with a fantastic fit and comfort, the new range became a success. Thereafter Komperdell has also presented innovative ideas regarding glove manufacturing and released a new line of underwear and base layers.
